Today, I’m going to showcase 5 more FREE WordPress plugins you can add to your Web Site or Blog.

Just like last week, these plugins adds oomph to your platform – something all of us can use!

If you missed last week’s show, I encourage you to take the time to listen to it.  In addition to the first 5 plugins in this showcase, I gave an overview covering what plugins are, the pluses and minuses of using them, and where to get them to keep your Site safe.

Now, without further delay, let’s get right to this week’s plugin showcase!

Broken Link Checker

Keep Things Running Smoothly
After installation and activation, this plugin checks your posts, comments, and other content for broken links and missing images.  If any are found, you’ll get an e-mail and a notification via the “tools” area of your dashboard.

Give It Time
It may take a few hours for this plugin to report your Site’s link status: Be patient!  When I initially installed it, I had to wait for about 4 hours before it picked up my broken links, but once it had crawled my Site, it worked like a charm.

Broken Link Checker alerted me to 3 broken links, and one was associated with a for-sale item!

Newsletter Sign Up

The Money Is in Your List
If you run an online business, you must capture e-mail addresses to keep your followers engaged, up-to-date, and thinking of you!

I prefer to use GetResponse to handle my e-mail marketing: There are plenty of pluses to using a paid-for service to do this; however, if you are simply not at a point in your business to make a $15/month investment, this is a decent, temporary alternative.

Keep in mind that when you work with free things to run your business, you may appear to outsiders as a person who is not invested in your own success or serious about what you do!  And before you poo-poo them, think about whether or not you’d do serious business with someone who’s not fully invested in what he or she does.

When you install and activate the Newsletter Sign-Up plugin, your visitors will be able to subscribe to “any” third-party newsletter.  (I put “any” in quotation marks as I have not checked every third-party provider, and I am loathe to use the terms always and never!)

As a bonus, you can choose to add a “Sign-up to our newsletter” checkbox below the WordPress comment form with just a mouse click.

NOTE: You’ll want to watch the video replay for complete instructions about how to set up your feed, and how to set the mailing parameters.
